This is the kitchen from the last post. There is large Green Egg, a refrig,, infrared grill and sink. The lower doors are made from reclaimed barn wood which adds a great touch to the stone cabinets. The counter top is stained concrete at both levels.

Same project with a view of the see though fireplace with dual fireboxes. The hearth is stained concrete.

A local Murfreesboro restauranteur is now enjoying his newly renovated backyard thanks to Rhonda, project designer and manager. Yes - the  pool liner is black showing off it's lagoon shape. What a sight in the evenings when the pool is lit! Pavers also cover the pool decking and uncovered patio area.

The pavilion covers a paver patio, stone see-through fireplace and kitchen. Not shown is a heated spa off the left side of the pool and  a water slide for the kids on the right!
Come back and see more picks next week!

The creation of an outdoor room requires the combination of many products made by many manufacturers. Making the right choices results in an exciting outdoor space for cooking, dining, relaxing, and entertaining. In the meantime, with all the options and decisions to be made the process could be overwhelming.
Where does one begin?

First, ask yourself, “how will I use the space”? Explore magazines and the internet for ideas and preferences. What would be your ultimate dream or ideal outdoor space? Remember, projects can be done in phases. Planning big eliminates most problems later done the road.

Secondly, consider the style of your house and size/dimension of your outdoor space. This includes the geographic layout with respect to the movement of the sun, slope of the yard, drainage, and surrounding areas beyond your property. This is where your outdoor design specialist can be of great help. Solve these issues with a consult from a CREATIVE DESIGN OUTDOOR specialist. In designing your custom outdoor living space we provide a 3-D walk-through rendering to assist you in visualizing your “dream space”.

Thirdly, depending upon your style and chosen features you will need to determine type of surfaces/covering you prefer. For example, amount of grass, use of concrete, brick pavers, natural or fabricated stone, wood or composite decking, metal, and coverings (roof/pavilion, pergola, cloth sails, etc.) all need to be part of your thinking processes. In today’s market, there is an inordinate amount of options so if you can dream it, CREATIVE DESIGN OUTDOOR can design it (and build it) so you may live it today and for many tomorrows!

The growing popularity of outdoor kitchens has spurred the use of a greater variety of  top materials. Granite and ceramic tile have always been the most popular. Click for comparison.
Lately stained concrete has entered the design scene for both indoor and outdoor use. Used primarily as decorative flooring we are now witnessing the move to counter tops rivaling the solid surfaces currently being offered (as seen on HGTV).
Concrete is porous and  neutral in color thus serving as a blank canvas allowing colors and finishes limited only by your imagination. Staining requires a specific acid mix with colorant plus a sealant for increased durability. You can even embed glass, stone, bottle tops, wine bottle bottoms; just about anything!

We at Creative Design Outdoor display both a hearth (below) and pub table top made from stained concrete. Pricing varies by fabricator/installer and of course any special components. Usually cost is similar to granite.
